Karen Butera King, MIRM: Karen provides the design direction for Karen Butera Inc.,the design firm she established in 1982. As an industry leader, Karen is recognized as an expert in innovative interior design and merchandising strategies that promote sales. Her success is demonstrated by successful projects across the nation and around the world, and acknowledged by a tradition of awards for design and merchandising excellence.
An educational background in art and engineering from Brigham Young University and the practical experience of her own advertising firm begin to define the breadth of the creative and technical foundation upon which Karen's career has grown. Her client-driven approach to interior design and sensitivity to market trends has earned her the reputation as a marketing expert, as well as, a master of interior merchandising.
A gifted speaker, Karen regularly shares her expertise with industry professionals by speaking to the National Association of Home Builders, The Urban Land Institute and Building Industry Association, in addition to National and International conferences including; Multi-Housing World Conference, The Pacific Coast Builders Conference, Southeast Builders Conference, Building Shanghai 2001 and The International Building Show of 2002 in Shanghai, China.
Karen is a proponent of continuing education for industry professionals, sharing her own knowledge through seminars and as an educator with the Institute of Residential Marketing. She has been an active member of a number of national trade organizations, including; The National Sales and Marketing Council, The Institute of Residential Marketing, Builder's Marketing Society and the Building Industry Association. Recognizing these accomplishments, she was honored by the National Sales and Marketing Council with the coveted Bill Molster Award for her professional achievement and contributions to the National Association of Home Builders.
Karen is a regular contributor to local, regional and national trade and consumer publications.
